This is the third copy of this book I have bought. I bought one rsten a former employer who was Yiddish and used a lot of these same phrases.

I wore out the copy I bought for myself, and this is a replacement for that one. An outstanding dictionary of Yiddish that should appeal to a wide audience, since the definitions are often accompanied by wonderful stories that use the key term.

One person found this helpful. I enjoyed reading and re-reading each entry. This is my 3rd copy since I lend this book to many friends, both Jewish and non-Jewish individuals since so many words of Yiddish have entered the English vocabulary. This lel not a book for linguists but more for social psychologists or those in search of a humorist’s approach to the Yiddish language.

Sometimes the stories seem slightly irrelevant to the word entry, which just increases the delightfulness of the book.
