This text was very interesting and enjoyable. A good solid introduction to the study of film, with lots of helpful photographs illustrating the author’s points. Rigid and uninspired classification of the film production, centered on the well documented Hollywood style of production.

Giajnetti had to buy this book for a film class I took, but the teacher never really used it. Books by Louis D. Each chapter is loaded with screen shots of movies that provide examples of what the author is talking about. He lives in Shaker Heights, where he spends an inordinate amount of time tending his Japanese-style garden, to make sure it keeps that natural look.

Gianhetti is updated with recent films and personalities for students. The many pictures make you wanna go and see more movies.

In addition to being a professional film critic for several years, he has written about movies for such sch Louis D. I also would have appreciated key terms being bolded so I could quickly find them.

There are also some storyboards from specific film scenes used to give the reader a better understanding of how films undrestanding made. It can be a little frustrating to flip back and forth to match them. Technical, but not written in jargon. I enjoyed reading it, but I wouldn’t say that it’s a real page-turner.

It was a good guide to the basic techniques and strategies of filmmaking and conveyance of message. Solid film textbook that was mentioned by American film critic Roger Ebert, it gives an overarching scope of different mediums that are involved in film. The book is divided into sections, each one building on the last and focusing on one specific feature of movies.

The in-text citations are not always near the pages or chapters that have the photographs they are referencing. He has published many articles, both popular and scholarly, on political subjects, literature, and drama. This textbook had too much personality for my taste. I guess that I really should have learned more from this book, because I disagreed with a lot of the points that the author makes.
